In the wild, they can survive extreme heat, drought and even frost. However, when it comes to hatching, they are quite demanding. For successful breeding, you should maintain a water temperature of between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius. This temperature range corresponds to the conditions that prevail in temporary ponds, the natural habitat of many Triops species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Breeding works best at around 26 to 27 \u00b0C, as the hatching rate is particularly high in this range. Some species, such as Triops longicaudatus, can also cope with slightly cooler water, but the general rule is: the closer you stay to 26 \u00b0C, the better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_keep_the_temperature_constant\"><\/span>How to keep the temperature constant<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you don&#8217;t have a particularly warm summer or if your propagator is in a cool room, you can hardly avoid using a heater. Here are two tried and tested options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Aquarium heating rod:<\/strong> Particularly ideal in larger tanks. Make sure that the heating rod is small enough for your breeding tank and offers the most precise temperature control possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Heating mat or heating plate:<\/strong> A good solution for small breeding tanks. Place the mat under the tank and check the water temperature regularly with a thermometer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A simple digital thermometer is a must, so you can make sure that the temperature is neither too high nor too low.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to start your breeding in spring or autumn, plan early and test your technique in advance.
