Triops are among the oldest animal species still living on Earth today. They have existed for over 200 million years – they were around long before the dinosaurs and even survived the great mass extinction at the end of the Cretaceous period. With the Triops longicaudatus Red, you can bring a genuine piece of Earth’s history into your home.

Triops offer a special experience, particularly for children: from hatching to the end of their natural life, they accompany a living creature and in doing so learn responsibility, mindfulness and biological interdependencies. Due to their short lifespan of up to 90 days, no excessive emotional attachment develops, as is common with traditional pets.

The Triops longicaudatus Red is an extraordinary variant of the classic Triops longicaudatus. Its intense red colouring is caused by a genetic trait (albino form) that makes the red colour of the blood visible. This variant occurs exclusively in aquarium breeding and is not found in the wild. As it is closely related to the normal Triops longicaudatus, both species can be kept together in an aquarium without any problems.

All Triops eggs come from controlled, local breeding. Unlike many commercially available breeding kits, where the number of eggs is merely estimated, the Triops eggs here are counted individually by hand. This ensures that the breeding kit contains exactly the stated number of eggs – transparent, traceable and reliable.

After just about two weeks, the female Triops begin to bury their eggs in the sand – a survival instinct dating back to prehistoric times. Once the animals have reached the end of their natural life, the sand containing the eggs can be dried, frozen and later reused for breeding. This cycle makes Triops breeding particularly sustainable and educational.

Thanks to their rapid growth, the aquarium changes almost daily and remains fascinating at all times. Triops longicaudatus thrive at temperatures around 25 °C and can be bred flexibly – using distilled water, still mineral water, river or lake water, as well as suitable pond water.

The Triops longicaudatus Red – Triops Mini Starter Pack is ideal for all families with children, amateur biologists and those new to triops breeding. Educational institutions such as schools and universities, as well as those with an interest in science and experienced triops breeders, will also appreciate the quality of Triops Galaxy’s starter packs. The mini starter pack comes with Triops Galaxy’s Triops breeding kit, sourced from local breeding, and high-quality spirulina feed for young Triops.
