Prehistoric life you can touch. Wonder in your living room.
With the Triops longicaudatus Red – Triops Mini Set, children (and adults 😉) are immersed in a fascinating world that existed long before dinosaurs ruled the Earth. Raising these prehistoric crustaceans combines learning, responsibility and genuine wonder – it’s prehistoric life you can touch.
From the moment they hatch until the end of their natural lives, children accompany a real living creature and learn to take responsibility in a playful way. Triops have a short lifespan, so no excessive emotional attachment develops – ideal as a first introduction to animal care and biological cycles.
The red-coloured variant of Triops longicaudatus grows particularly quickly: the creatures reach sexual maturity after just around 14 days. The females then begin to bury their eggs in the sand at the bottom of the tank – an impressive instinct from prehistoric times. Once the population has naturally declined, the eggs can be dried, frozen and later reused for breeding. In this way, the cycle of life begins anew.
Triops longicaudatus Red prefer temperatures between 25 and 28 °C and can be bred flexibly – using still mineral water, distilled water or even treated river or lake water.
Precisely counted eggs for high quality
The Triops eggs in the breeding kits from Triops Galaxy are counted individually by hand, ensuring that the stated number of eggs is guaranteed and not based on estimates. This quality approach ensures transparency and consistent quality. Our Triops eggs come exclusively from local breeding.
